SHOW SYNOPSIS:

One evening in 1988, a rebelious teenager drives recklessly into the night.  He swerves around traffic, fishtails around corners, and pushes the limits on his new sports car's engine.  In the blink of an eye he spins out of control and totals the car into a guard rail.  Wrapped inside the twisted metal and clinging to life, the teen has an out of body experience.  After being pulled from the wreckage and revived on scene, the young, lifeless boy has a moment of clarity.  No longer hopeless and lost, the teen finds meaning and purpose in his life.  He's a force to be reckoned with and is driven to greatness.  The moment that almost ended it has filled him with life and inspiration!

The musical design draws inspiration from old 1980's new wave style music.  Shows like Knight Rider and other shows utilizing old school synthesizer patches have a strong presence in the musical scoring.  Costuming should be designed appropriately in the new wave punk style that was prominent in that time period.

A sampler or some other way to trigger samples is REQUIRED throughout the show.  The part is utilized in the Synthesizer part. This can either be done through a sampler like a Roland SPD-S, Yamaha DTX, or other similar sample drum pad.  If the Synthesizer is capable to load samples into its memory bank, that is ideal for this show.  It is also possible to trigger samples via a computer. utilizing free sampler programs.  The audio samples are included in the download package after purchasing.  If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us to help you.

The drum set part contains meticulously detailed grooves and parts.  The performer should be versed in various sticking patterns as well have the ability to play ghost note passages and diddle passages on the ride and hi-hat cymbals.  A strong sense of pulse and ensemble awareness is key with this part.

The auxiliary percussion parts are kept fairly "busy" with a lot of quick instrument changes.  The following instruments are needed in the auxiliary percussion parts:
  • Brake Drums
  • Cabasa
  • Splash Cymbal
  • China Cymbal
  • Djembe
  • Concert Bass Drum
  • Tam-Tam
  • Triangle

The Electric Guitar part contains a mixture of standard notation as well as jazz "slash" notation with chord symbols.  The guitarist should be capable of switching between clean and distortion sounds throughout the show.  The guitar part also covers some sampler parts that cannot be triggered by the synth player.

The bass guitar part is fairly straight forward, but utilizes slap and pop techniques at several moments in the show.
